Astana.
The world exhibition 2017 took place in the city of Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. I was invited by the Swiss Embassy and had the opportunity to attend to the Swiss National Day, with H.E. Doris Leuthard, our Swiss President and visit the majority of the more than 150 nation pavilions.
The venue of the expo is a impressive little town of its own, that is supposed to serve as the future kazakh financial district of Astana. The countries have invested a lot to present their impressive pavilions with the motto “Future Energy”. Unfortunately the event was not well promoted in Europe, and the projected number of visitors was not achieved.
